Examination in the PTO
All trademarks filed with the Norwegian Patent Office are subjected to extensive examination. Various legal issues are evaluated, including prior rights and distinctiveness.
The time span involved in the examination of a trade mark application is approximately ¾ of a year. The opposition period takes place after the mark is registered and is two months.
